Open Door, Close Door

After learning ‘Never Going Back Again’ for my role in a Fleetwood Mac tribute band, it seemed criminal to let what I’d learned go to waste and so this fingerpicked song was written. It sounded awful, so I bought a top grade Taylor to play it on. It still didn’t sound quite right and so I ended up changing my mics, my audio interface and all my plugins to get it to a state worth releasing and what I learned along the way has changed me as an artist forever.

It is certainly of higher production quality than anything I have made before and features a lush three part harmony. It is ultimately about modern dating and the on off nature of how people treat each other in that world. A good friend is going through it right now and it is amazing how something that seems like it’s going somewhere is suddenly over out of nowhere.

The hope is to make an album of fingerpicked acoustic songs in the same style, partly as a reaction to certain AI led trends of the moment and a reminder that fully human made music is still the best. It might be that the album proves the exact opposite, but I will try my best!
